In short

Luxury asset lending lets you borrow against high-value assets such as fine art, private aircraft, yachts, classic and modern cars, watches and jewellery. Specialist lenders typically advance around 50% of an independent valuation. The asset may stay with you or be held in insured storage. We arrange loans from over £25,000 to £100m+. Timing ranges from the same day to around 4 weeks, depending on the asset.

How does luxury asset lending work?

You pledge the asset as security, and the lender advances a percentage of its independent value. The security is released when the loan is repaid. Every lender checks title, value, condition and insurance. For aircraft and yachts that includes registration and maintenance or survey records. For fine art, provenance and authenticity.

1

Tell us about the asset. Confidentially, under NDA if you prefer.

2

Terms from specialist lenders. Indicative terms first, so you can choose the lender that suits you.

3

Independent valuation and due diligence. The lender checks title, value, condition and insurance. Funds follow once security is in place.

What can I borrow against?

Can I borrow against a classic car or supercar?

Yes. We arrange loans secured against classic, collectable and high-value modern cars, such as Ferrari, Rolls-Royce and Aston Martin. Lenders typically advance around 50% of an independent specialist valuation. We can often arrange straightforward cases the same day. Depending on the lender, the car may stay with you or be held in secure, insured storage.

Do I have to hand over the asset?

It depends on the asset and the lender.

Art can stay with you, subject to insurance, security and location checks. It can also be held in specialist insured storage, which is often quicker and cheaper. Watches and jewellery are held in insured storage for the term. Aircraft and yachts usually stay in use, as long as you keep up insurance and maintenance. Cars may stay with you or be held in secure storage, with the lender taking security over the car.

Who uses luxury asset lending?

Borrowers include collectors, high-net-worth individuals, family offices, trusts, business owners, dealers and companies that own high-value assets. Common uses include funding an acquisition, bridging to a planned sale or providing working capital. It can also release cash for a property or business opportunity without selling the asset.

Luxury asset lending FAQs

What is the minimum loan?

We arrange loans over £25,000. Lenders advance only a percentage of an independent valuation, so the asset needs to be worth comfortably more than the loan.

How is the asset valued?

By an independent specialist the lender approves. This could be an art expert, an aviation or marine surveyor, or a car, watch or jewellery specialist. Lenders often value on an auction or sale basis, not insurance replacement value.

Can a company or trust borrow?

Yes. Many loans are made to companies, trusts and family office structures that own the asset. Tell us who owns it when you enquire, as this affects which lenders can help.

Will anyone know I have borrowed against my assets?

We keep your enquiry confidential. We can sign a non-disclosure agreement before you share details, and we only share information with lenders you agree to.

Which assets can I borrow against?

Fine art, private jets, yachts, classic and high-value modern cars, luxury watches and fine jewellery. Wine and other collections can be considered.

How much can I borrow?

We arrange loans from over £25,000 to £100 million+. Lenders typically advance around 50% of an independent valuation, and sometimes more, depending on the asset and your circumstances. The largest loans are secured on art collections, aircraft and yachts.

How quickly can a loan be arranged?

It depends on the asset. Loans against watches, jewellery and cars can often be arranged the same day. Aircraft, yachts and art typically take 2 to 4 weeks, but can take as little as 2 days.

What does luxury asset lending cost?

Rates typically range from around 7% to over 15% a year. They depend on the asset, the loan size, the loan-to-value and your circumstances. There may also be valuation, legal, storage and insurance costs. Rates and fees vary by lender and case.
